Reminding Myself What's Important/Bonus Material

We've been here at the farm for about two weeks now, and it feels like months. We have learned a million things and we're tired as hell. Some days have been easier than others, and as hired help/fellow volunteers come and go (five of them since we started- yeesh!) our workload fluctuates drastically. But, it's all good. The other day, while I was at the mechanic shop getting the travel beast fixed yet again, I had the opportunity to inspire a 50-year old woman to take the reins on her own life and experience the things she's always wanted to.

50 years old, four adult children, and she's lived in Madison,FL her ENTIRE life. We started talking about travel because she had never seen a rooftop cargo box like the one on our Adventuremobile and she confided in me that she really wants to travel, even for a little while, and see some other areas of the world. My response? 'So do it! Do it now!'....but she, of course, countered that she couldn't possible REALLY do that because her husband is 'old-fashioned' and is not the slightest bit interested in life outside of Madison. She said he would divorce her if she told him she wanted to travel. For reals. I told her the story of The Farmer and The Yogi, and, with tears in her eyes, she told me she's going to do it, too...she's going to make the changes she needs so she can live the life she's always wanted. She's going to 'pack a suitcase, withdraw a bit of cash, and hit the open road'...no matter what mister hubby has to say.

I have no idea if this woman really went home and made any changes at all- but at least I know the seed of self-reliance, adventure, and happiness has been planted. She's been reminded that her life should always be her own...that she has choices, and she's in control of her own destiny. That's why we created The Farmer and The Yogi- to help other people realize the life of your dreams doesn't have to be a fantasy. You figure out what is interesting, exciting, and important to you- then you find a way to make it happen. This world becomes a better place each time one of us finds happiness.

Saturday Night Bonus Material!

In other news, a sickly goat poop-sneezed a quantity of goaty-diarrhea on my knee this morning. Aaah. Farm life. I also witnessed the failed attempt at mating a female goat and our resident freakshow buck, Simba. Simba will attempt to mate with anything, from the other bucks, to The Farmer, The Yogi, and our wwoofmate, Joaquin, as long as it's not a female goat. Oddness. I also learned that three-month old baby boy-goats are fully capable of impregnating females, and that two of the lil' babies in our care are rather interested in doing just that. Check the vid for funny goat noises and off-colour humour!

Time for night-nights...and thank the universe, tomorrow is our day off! Homemade ice cream and a movie will hopefully greet us in the afternoon!
